(Please be aware that where these instructions indicate THE OWL, in older versions this may be
something like OWL USB CONNECT 2)

and download the relevant software set, this will include 3 files, two manuals and an msi file which is the installation
program. Please unpack these from the zip file and store them in a memorable folder for use later.
Please use Internet Explorer to download the software, and please if you have difficulty opening the zip file try downloading again with firewall settings set to allow download of zip files with msi content.
Once you have the files downloaded, first step is to remove the old software and save your data.
Please go to START > THE OWL > UNINSTALL
This program will uninstall the program and the device drivers for your old software and offer you the opportunity to save your old database file should there be useful information in it.
Once the old software is uninstalled, please reboot your PC.
Once stable conditions have been achieved after the reboot, the new software can be installed by running the msi file. This will install the new drivers and software.
At the end of the install the program may start. Please immediately stop the program.
Please then connect your OWL + USB device to the PC and watch until Drivers are successfully installed and the device is now ready to use.
Disconnect the OWL + USB from the PC.
Stop the background service …….. Right click in the task bar at the bottom of the screen and select START TASK MANAGER, Click on Applications, and ensure THE OWL software is not showing in the running software list.
Then click on SERVICES and click on NAME to put all services into alphabetical order, then find the service TheOwl_be. Right click on the service and select STOP THE SERVICE.
At this point you need to go to My computer, navigate to find your saved be.db file, and then copy it, go to PROGRAM DATA\2SE and find the new be.db file and delete it, then copy in your saved be.db file.
Go back to the Task Manager and restart TheOwl_be service.
Now you can connect your device to the PC, watch the be.db file, you may see a journal file temporarily appear, and the db file should increase in size with the new downloaded data.
Start the Program from START>THE OWL>THE OWL This will ask you to register, please do so, it doesn’t hurt and you won’t then see that window again.
In the new software window, go to SETTINGS, and then selected the CONNECTED TO tab. You should see your device in the left hand pane, and you need to drag it to the right pane and drop it under NAME.
Give your device a name, please keep it simple with no punctuation, and SAVE your new setup.
Now you can use your software. If you have more than one device with data downloaded, you can select the device in the Device list, top left of the software window.
Please ensure for first use that you select historic data and bar charts, and use that as your default condition when looking at a new device.
This software will not run on a Macintosh.
