What is the Y-Cable Pack for?

If your Solar PV feed is straight into your Consumer Unit / Distribution Panel (Type 2 wiring arrangement) then you will need both the Intuition-pv kit and a Y-Cable Pack (Part Number: TSE200-010). Please make sure you select Intuition-pv (Type 2) as the System Type when creating your Account.

I have fitted my Y-Cable as instructed but I am getting higher than normal / expected Consumption readings, what is happening?

Watch the Generation live data and Consumption live data for a couple of minutes. If you see that when the Generation figure increases the Consumption figure increases by a similar amount and visa versa then you need to reverse the direction the cable is going through the Grid Sensor.

1) Locate the Grid Sensor (should be clamped to the live cable between your Electricity Meter and your Consumer Unit / Distribution Panel).

2) Look whether the OWL logo is facing towards the Meter or towards the Consumer Unit.

3) Undo the Sensor latch, remove, twist 180 degrees and re-attach.

4) Check that the OWL logo on the Sensor is now facing in the opposite direction to that in Step 2.

When correctly fitted your Consumption figure should not move up and down in sync with the Generation figure.

I can’t get my Intuition-pv system to display the energy being generated by the Solar panels.

Please ensure that the Generation Sensor clamp(s) are ONLY fitted over single core live cables. Often the cable connection from your Inverter or Isolator switch is a Twin & Earth cable. If you clamp around all 3 of these wires together the Sensor will not detect any mains power. Ask your electrician to split out the live wire and fit the Sensors for you. See photos of correct and incorrectly mounted Sensors.

I am getting random periods of the day when my Consumption data drops down to zero - what is happening?

This can be caused by:

a) One or more of the Sensor clamps not being closed correctly around the cable. Sensor clamps should be completely closed and a loose fit on the cable.

b) The Sensor clamp plugs are not pushed fully home into the sockets on the Transmitter and/or the Y-Cable if fitted.
